Meet the Sister: Tiffany Firestone
Position: Historian 2010-2011
Pledge Class: Alpha Xi - Fall 2009
Major/Minor: Biological Sciences
Future Career Plans: I'd like to pursue a career in surgery, possibly orthopedic surgery, but as I've come to learn during my time in KGD, there are so many options out there so I plan on keeping my options open.
Why did you join KGD?
I wanted to find a group on campus that I could relate to and that would help in my pursuit of becoming a doctor. I also wanted the familial bonds that being a sister would bring. I felt that as a freshman I needed a group/organization on campus where I could be somebody and have close friends.
How has KGD changed your life?
I went from being a lonely freshman to having 30+ girls that I know I can trust and rely on. They have helped boost my confidence and happiness since coming to Davis. I fully believe that without the skills that I learned during the pledge process I wouldn't have become who I am today or have gotten my job as a Resident Advisor in the residence halls.
What is your favorite part of KGD?
I love knowing that I have people backing me up and pushing me to succeed. I have a friendly face wherever I go on campus (because I always run into someone) and it's nice to know that there's a network of people that care about me on campus. The sisterhood that I have become a part of will stay with me for the rest of my life :) One of my favorite parts of KGD have been, at the beginning of a new quarter, have so many girls that are in the same classes as me and knowing I will always have someone to sit with.
What are your interests?
I have many interests but above all I love to spend time with friends, whether it's just sitting on a couch watching Disney movies or going out. I love to read, tie-dye and sing when no one's listening. When I am able to, I love to scuba dive and go to the beach. Some day I would love to travel :)
What type of extracurriculars are you involved with?
I am currently a Resident Advisor for UC Davis Student Housing, working in the residence halls on campus. I enjoy doing community service, and I hope to have an internship or work in a lab sometime in the near future.
