Meet the Sister
Why did you join KGD?
I joined KGD because I didn't feel like I really belonged anywhere on campus and I wasn't finding the life long friends I thought I would be finding by the end of my first year. I was pretty shy and unsure of myself and for once in my life I wanted to put myself out there and try something new and outside of my comfort zone. I also am an only child and I've always wanted a bigger family and KGD has definitely given me that. In addition I loved how hard working the girls were and the amazing things that they were all doing and achieving and I wanted to be a part of a group that would always motivate me to do my best.
How has KGD changed your life?
I could write an essay on this one question but in short KGD has helped shape me into the person that I am today. I have gained the confidence that I never knew I had or could ever have. I now understand what it means to be professional. I now feel comfortable in the professional world, not worrying about what to wear, not dreading interviews and most of all believing in myself. It gave me the most amazing support system a girl could ever have and the big family that I have always wanted.
Favorite part of KGD?
I love how everyone is always there for one another whether it be to grab someone a coffee, to study late in to the night with or to just talk about your problems.
Extracurriculars and interests?
I volunteer with the Sutter Sacramento Hospice Program providing end of life support to patients and their families. In addition I volunteer at the Salud Behavioral Health Clinic which provides substance use disorder services, adult behavioral health services, family and parenting services and youth services to the homeless and low income population of Sacramento. My interests are giving back to the community around me and fostering kittens :)
